وإذا ما نظرنا إلى المنشآت، فإننا نجد أن العنصر البشري يمثل المرتكز الأساسي في إدارتها، كما أن الهدف الرئيسي لتحقيق الإدارة السليمة يتمثل في اتخاذ القرارات الكفيلة بتحقيق أهداف المنشأة ذاتها، وأهداف الأفراد والمجموعات الأخرىـ وهو ما يعتمد بشكل رئيسي على كفاءة ومهارات متخذ القرارات.
وتأسيساً على ما سبق، فإن الهدف من هذا الكتاب هو التعريف ببعض الأساليب الكمية للإدارة، وتوضيح الكيفية التي يتم بموجبها استخدام هذه الأساليب في استخدام القرارات الكفيلة بتحقيق الأهداف المنشودة في المجالات كافة، سواء في مجال الأعمال، أو الصناعة أو الخدمات الصحية والاجتماعية..
