يقسم الكتاب إلى ثلاثة فصول الأول نبذة عن أشعة الليزر وكيفية الحصول على هذا الشعاع وما هي أنواع الليزرات أما الفصل الثاني فيشمل تطبيقات شاملة عن أشعة الليزر حيث يتضمن التطبيقات الطبية، أهم الليزرات المستخدمة في الطب، منظومات نقل شعاع الليزر وعلاج العيون والأسنان والأمراض النسائية والأمراض الجلدية، جراحة الأنف والأذن والحنجرة، والعظام والأوعية الدموية، الجملة العصبية، الجهاز العظمي والجراحة العامة. أما التطبيقات الصناعية: فتشمل أهم الليزرات المستخدمة في الصناعة، لحام المعادن وأنواعه قطع وتثقيف المعادن، تصليد السطوح المعدنية، الحفر والاستئصال وتشكيل المعادن. أما التطبيقات العسكرية: فتشمل أهم الليزرات المستخدمة للتطبيقات العسكرية الجايروسكوب مقدرات المدى، الرادار الليزري، القنابل الذكية وأخيراً تطبيقات عامة تشمل، الطباعة، بالليزر والاتصالات، عمليات القياس، التصوير المجسم (الهولوغرافي)، في الزراعة، في التفاعلات الكيمياوية، في المفاعلات الاندماجية، في تبريد الذرات، في قياس التيار والجهد العالي، في أجهزة العرض، في الترصيف في التحريات الجنائية في أجهزة الفيديو. أما الفصل الأخير فهو يتضمن أهم إرشادات السلامة من أشعة الليزر وما هي الإضرار البيولوجية لهذا الشعاع.
