تحركت أقفال الباب وأخذت تتلاشى، سقطت الحيات المذهبة واستقامت واقفة تقودهما إلى الداخل مروراً بحدائق من عسجد، لها رنين وأصوات تترنم بمعزوفات راقصةٍ، تراءت البيوت المظللة بخيام كالسحب البيض، لم تر عيناه وجوها تلمع كالألماس مثلما يراها الآن، ومن بينها أجساد طيفية ملونة، وطيور عاقلة لها أصوات مسموعة، تسبقهما نحو بوابة قصر منيف بلا أبواب، يصطف قريباً منها رجال ونساء يمتزجون في ملامح إنس وجان، متشابهون في أطوالهم، متقاربون في أعمارهم، متوجون بتيجان من ذهب مرصعة بالألماس، يحلق فوق رؤوسهم أطفال صغار، بأجنحة بيض وأعين واسعة وخدود مشربة بحمرة خمرية، المشهد لا يوصف، يُشعل في النفس توقاً للحب، مشياً على مرمر أبيض من تحته أنهار بألوان مختلفة، استشعر العطس، سأله قرن الوعل: تريد أن تشرب؟ هز رأسه وكأن العطش الذي استبد به عقد لسانه انفرج الممر من تحتهما، فغار ينبوع بلون قرمزي، مد فاه للإرتشاف، فتسرب إلى حلقه شراب لم يذقه من قبل.
