يتوجه هذا الدليل إلى كلّ العالمين والمهتمين في مجال رعاية وتنمية الطفولة المبكرة ويعرّفهم في "الجزء الأول" بالنهج الشمولي التكاملي في رعاية وتنمية الطفولة المبكرة، لقد تمّ تطوير هذا النهج على يد مجموعة من الهيئات والأفراد الناشطين في عدد من البلدان العربية، الذين قاموا على مدى العقد الماضي بتشارك خبرتهم في العمل مع الأطفال الصغار، وبالتأمل فيها.
يستند النهج الشمولي التكاملي إلى ركيزتين مقبولتين عالمياً هماً: حقوق الطفل: وعلم النفس النمائي. وهو يعرض أساليب مختلفة من أجل التعرف على طرق عمل تساهم في تحسين البرامج والموارد الخاصة برعاية وتنمية الطفولة المبكرة، بحيث تتعاظم فائدتها، وتزداد ملاءمتها للواقع المحلّي سواء العربي أو غيره.
يتضمن دليل التدريب الجزء الثاني عدداً من الموارد والأنشطة العمليّة، تنتظم جميعها حول 27 موضوعاً، يمكن استخدام هذه الموارد والأنشطة بمرونة من أجل بناء طيف متنوع من برامج التدريب التشاركية (أي التي تقوم على مبدأ التشارك بين المتدرّبين) بكلمات أخر، تشكل خبرة المتدربين الذاتية نقطة الانطلاق نحو تطوير ونشر النهج الشمولي التكاملي. وعلى مدى صفحات الدليل كلّها "ينغمس الكبار العاملون مع الأطفال في عملية" تأمل للطفل وللطفولة في مجتمعاتهم المحلية، ويجرى تشجيعهم على العمل سوياً من أجل تحديد طرقهم الخاصة في تحسين البرامج والموارد المتعلقة برعاية وتنمية الطفولة المبكرة .
إن الجزء الثالث فجاء محتوياً على مجموعة من المقالات والمواد المأخوذة من مصادر مختلفة، انتقتها المؤلفة، لتفرز من خلالها النهج الذي يبني عليه هذا الدليل. ويركز هذا النهج على حقوق الطفل وعلى الأسرة والشركات والبرمجة الشمولية التكاملية المرنة في مجال الطفولة المبكرة.
