يحتوي هذا على الكتاب على ست رسائل في علوم الحديث، ثلاثة للنسائي : 1-تسمية فقهاء الأمصار من الصحابة فمن بعدهم، فهو يذكر فقهاء الصحابة في المدينة ثم التابعين فمن بعدهم فيها، ثم أهل مصر كذلك، ثم الكوفة، ثم البصرة، ثم الشام، ثم الشام ثم خراسان، كلها بحسب الطبقات، ثم 2-الطبقات : فأورد أصحاب نافع بحسب طبقاتهم، ثم أصحاب الأعمش بحسب طبقاتهم، و3-تسمية من لم يروا عنه غير رجل واحد، فيذكر اسمه وكلام العلماء فيه. والثلاثة الأخرى للخطيب البغدادي وهي: 1-الإجازة للمعدوم والمجهول، فأورد حكمه وكلام العلماء فيه، 2-مختصر نصيحة لأهل الحديث. 3-الرحلة في طلب الحديث، وهذه رسالة قيمة أفرد فيها من رحل وسافر من أجل حديث واحد.
