الكتاب الذي نقلب صفحاته هو كتاب نفيس من حيث كونه مخطوطاً في نفائس المخطوطات العربية، نادراً أيضاً، وبأنه نفيس من حيث موضوعه، ومنهج مؤلفه ومادته. وقصد المؤلف إلى إرشاد القارئ إلى معرفة حقيقة النبوة، وبيان ما يجوز على الأنبياء وما يستحيل، وما يجب من توقيرهم، وتدقيق النظر في استخراج مناقبهم، ومعرفة ما أوجب الله على الناس من التفقه في القرآن لتوحيد الله وتنزيهه، ووصف أنبيائه بالذين اصطفى بالصدق والعصمة والتنزيه من الخطأ والخطل.
ووقف المؤلف عند قضايا يستغلها الملاحدة مضعاف النفوس من القصاصين والمؤرخين إلى غير هؤلاء ممن يصح التحذير منهم والتنبيه على آرئهم الفاسدة وعقائدهم، ونبّه إلى الخطأ، أو الأخطاء التي يقع فيها المرء عن جهل أو عن نفاق حين يقصد إلى أقوال وأفعال للانبياء قد يتخيلها مثالب في حقهم، فإذا فعل فإنه يهلك ويهلك من حيث لا يشعر.
وقد صاغ المؤلف موضوعه بأسلوب علمي رصين، ونسجه بأسلوب أدبي متقن، واضح، سائغ، مفهوم، متسلسل. والكتاب يتضح عن ثقافة منوعة واسعة، ومعرفة بالعلوم الإسلامية المختلفة، وقدرة على استيعابها والتعبير عنها بأدواتها، ولكنه لم يثقل النص بالمصطلحات أو التعقيدات المألوفة في مثل هذه المؤلفات.
