وُضعت المتون في الفقه الإسلامي للتدرّج بالمسلم في دراسة أحكام الشريعة، بحيث يعرف من خلال تلك المتون المختصرة المسائلَ الأساسية للفقه، ويُصلح بها عبادته، في مدة يسيرة من الزمان، ثم إذا اتسع وقته ورغب في معرفة المزيد من أحكام الشرع انتقل إالى شروح تلك المتون، على درجاتها في التوسع والبسط. ومن الفقهاء المتأخرين الذين اعتنوا بتقريب الفقه بوضع المتون المختصرة: العالم الفقيه الشيخ محمد بن عبد الله الجرداني الدمياطي، أحد فقهاء الشافعية بمصر في القرن الماضي، فوضع هذا المختصر الذي بين أيدينا «الأجوبة الجلية عن الأسئلة الفقهية في مذهب السادة الشافعية»، وجعله ـ ترغيباً للناس ـ على طريقة السؤال والجواب، وصدّره بمقدمة فيما يجب اعتقاده على المكلف، وختمه ببيان الأخلاق المحمودة والمذمومة، واقتصر في مادته الفقهية على العبادات. وقد طبع هذا المختصر اللطيف قديماً،ن وطوى طبعتَه النسيان، فاستخرجه محققه الفاضل من بين المطبوعات القديمة، وضبطَ نصّه، واعتنى بتفقيره، وخرّج أحاديثه، وصحّح بعض الأخطاء الطباعية فيه، وعلّق عليه ببعض التعليقات التوضيحية المفيدة، وكتب مقدمةً تعرِّف بالكتاب ومؤلفه. وهذا المتن الوجيز مناسب جداً لتدريس مبادئ الفقه، ومعرفة الضروري من العقيدة والعبادة والأخلاق، في المسجد، وفي البيت، وللصغار والناشئة، ولغير المختصّين من الكبار.
