في جديده القصصي "مريم وأخواتها" يكتب أحمد الحيدر حكاية المرأة في مجتمع ذكوري، تلك المحكومة من إحباط إلى آخر فقط لكونها أنثى، يرسم الرجل مصيرها، وتتحكم البُنى الذهنية المغلقة بمستقبلها. من هنا جاءت رسالة الكاتب الفكرية على لسان الطالبة / الراوية مريم "طالبة جامعية مجتهدة" طلب منها أستاذها أن تقوم بإجراء لقاءات مع عدد من السيدات اللواتي يعانين من أي نوع من المشاكل في المجتمع، فاختارت أربع حالات تكون فيها المرأة مظلومة. والطريف في الأمر أن استاذها باعتباره ذكر منحها علامة "ضعيف" في نهاية الفصل .. مدعياً أن القصص غير واقعية!.
تتمحور القصص حول العلاقات الزوجية (الشك الزوجي) وعدم التكافؤ في الحقوق في الجامعة وفي العمل وداخل الأسرة وغيرها من مشكلات وليشكل بالنهاية الروى استمراراً للواقعي المعيشي أو بديلاً منه، والنص على ما يبدو هو إدانة للمجتمع وللرجل معاً، وهي كتابة لها ما يبررها تتناول قضايا المرأة الواقعية، وإن كانت بنوع من الإلتفات الفني يراعي فيه الكاتب خصوصية المجتمع التقليدي الذي تدور فيه الأحداث، من حيث الحكاية والخطاب واللغة وفي رسمه لصورة الأنثى في مجتمع شعبي ذكوري، ما يوهم بواقعية الأحداث، وهذا الإيهام هو أحد مكونات الرواية التقليدية أيضاً.
عناوين القصص: 1- كما تُدين تُدان .. ولكن استعن بالشيطان! ، 2- وإذا المظلومة سئلت بأي ذنب حُرمت؟، 3- كنز علاء الدين .. لصاحبه المسكين!، 4- فرحتي ليست يتيمة.
