لقد رحل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وكثير من صحابته في مسيس الحاجة إلى صياغة روحية المسيرة إلى نماذج من البشر متميزة في اندكاكها بالرسالة تواصل عملية إعداد أولئك الصحابة وتحرس مسيرة الأمة من الخلل والانحراف لعدد من الأجيال أم لا؟ ثم هل بوسع أحد من المسلمين أن يعتقد أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ينطق بغير الحق أو يقول جزافاً وهو يقرن بعض الرجال بالحق أو بالقرآن أو بنفسه أو يجعلهم مقياساً للإيمان؟
ثم هل بوسع أحد أن يعتقد أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قد ترك أمته دون أن يشخص لها قيادة مركزية ترتبط بها بعد رحيله وهو الذي لم يغادر المدينة المنورة أبداً بدون أن يعين لها والياً يدير شؤون المسلمين فيها؟ إن هذه الدراسة التي بين يديك تعالج هذه الحيثيات وتنطلق فيها إلى حقيقة المراد بالإمامة الشرعية بعد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم.
