إن القصيدة مهما غامرت في البحث عن التقنيات، ومهما نوّعت في اجتهاداتها في الأداء تظل جهداً إبداعياً يتجسد في اللغة أولاً، ويسعى من خلال اللغة إلى البرهنة على جدواه وحيويته ثانياً. وهنا لا بد من بيان أن اللغة الشعرية لا تتجه إلى هدفها داخل النص، في خطٍ مستقيم، يمتثل للأعراف دائماً ويسعى إلى التطابق معها باستمرار، لذلك فإن هذه الدراسة التي تتناول الدلالة المرئية في القصيدة الحديثة، هي محاولة لملامسة نقاط التماس أو التنافر بين اللغة وضغط الذاكرة الشعرية من جهة، وما تقترحه الحياة على اللغة من تلوينات من جهة أخرى.
فاللغة حركة تقوم، في أحيان كثيرة، على مشاكسة السائد ومراوغته، والتخلص من لترتقي إلى مستوى من الأداء يغذي فاعلية القصيدة وينعشها بالكثير من المفاجآت والتنويعات في أساليب القول الشعري. من هذا المنطلق كان للباحث هذه القراءات في شعرية القصيدة الحديثة تمحورت هذه القراءات حول النقاط التالية: شعرية العبث والتهكم، حوار النصوص الشعرية، مرثية الصداقة الآفلة، الدلالة المرئية، وسردية النص الشعري.
