تعود فكرة إخراج هذا الكتاب "محمد والمسيحيون العرب"، في جذورها الأولى، إلى أيام طفولتي، وتحديداً في "الكتاتيب" حيث كان "معلمنا الشيخ" يطلب منا، نحن التلاميذ، قراءة بعض السور القرآنية ومنها سورة مريم.
ثم جاء يوم أحببت فيه أن أعيد طباعة مؤلفات والدي إعترافاً له بحقه عليّ وواجبي تجاهه، إحياء لذكراه، وكان أن اهتممت بمؤلفاته ومنها "محمد عند علماء الغرب"، وفيه ذكر لبعض كبار المسيحيين العرب من المفكرين والشعراء، فراودتني الفكرة في تحقيق كتابي هذا: "محمد والمسيحيون العرب".
وإن من أتيتُ على ذكرهم في هذا الكتاب، من مفكرين وكتّاب وشعراء مسيحيين، وما جاؤوا به في مشاعرهم الصادقة حيال النبي محمد، حباً وتمجيداً، هم من المسيحيين الحقيقيين والعروبيين الصادقين، و"العروبة جسد روحه الإسلام".
