إن من أعظم الفرائض عند الله عز وجل "الحج"، وقد امتاز عن باقي الفرائض بأنه عبادة بدنية ومالية معا. بخلاف باقي الفرائض فإنها إما بدنية فقط كالصلاة وإما مالية كالخمس، وقد امتاز أيضا بمشقته وصعوبته، كما وامتاز أيضا بكثرة مناسكه وتشعبها، ولذا أخذ حيزا كبيرا في أبحاث الفقهاء وفتاوى العلماء، وقام ديونهم على إصدار رسالة خاصة به تسهيلا للمكلفين. ومما رغب فيه المكلف هو الاطلاع على آدابه، ومستحباته ومكروهاته، وأدعيته، ليأخذ بما استطاع منها، خاصة وأن المكلف قد لا يتيسر له الحج إلا مرة واحدة في حياته أو لمرات لكن محدودة. ومن هنا كان سعي المؤلف إلى جمع هذه الآداب في كتابه هذا بأسلوب جديد ليسهل على الناسك الاطلاع عليه وامتاز هذا الكتاب بما يلي: التبويب والتنسيق بشكل يسهل معه الرجوع وبشكل منظم، كثرة الأدعية والآداب بما قد لا يوجد في كتاب واحد من الكتب المعهودة، الاعتماد على المصادر الأولية والأساسية في الجمع كالعلل والخصال، المحاسن وكامل الزيادات والإقبال والبحار والوسائل وغير ذلك، ذكر حكمة أفعال الحج وتسمياته عند بداية كل عنوان اعتمادا على ما ذكر في روايات أهل البيت.
