في روايته " يحي ما زال حيّاً " يعيد الروائي جميل فاضل قضية الأسرى في السجون الإسرائيلية إلى الواجهة ، لتكون في مقدمة وأولويات القضايا عند أصحاب الشأن ، ويفعل ذلك بتسليط الضوء على قضية الأسير " يحي سكاف " الذي أمضى في سجون العدو من عمره ما يزيد عن الأربعين عاماً .
تسرد الرواية مسيرة المناضل المقاوم يحي سكاف الذي وقع في الأسر الإسرائيلي في 11 آذار 1978م ، وكافة التفاصيل التي تتعلق بالعملية البطولية التي شارك فيها سكاف ، بعدما غادر بلدته بحنين ، مفارقاً الأحباء ، حزيناً حالماً بتحرير فلسطين . كان سكاف متابعاً لما يدور في الجنوب اللبناني وعلى ارض فلسطين من ظلم وقهر وقتل ومجازر ، مما أجج وأشعل في نسفه مشاعر الغضب ، حتى أصبحت تتنامى مشاعر الثورة مع سنين عمره ، فغادر مقاعد الدراسة يافعاً ، وانخرط في مطلع السبعينات في صفوف المقاومة الفلسطينية ، مع رفاقه في ( قوات العاصفة ) ، وكان الموعد الكبير مع فلسطين من ضمن مجموعة النوارس الغدائية التي كانت تقودها الشهيدة البطلة دلال المغربي وأبو هزاع ، وكان يحي سكاف نائب قائد المجموعة التي نفذت عملية النوارس .
