Book Description
الشاعر صاحب هذا الديوان هو خفاف بن عمير بن الحارث الشديد بن رياح بن يقظة بن عضيه ويصل بنسبه إلى قيس بن عيلان بن مضر بن نذار. وأمه ندبة، وبها عرق، وهي ندبة بنت أيان وتصل بنسبها إلى ربيعة بن كعب. وخفاف بن ندبة شاعر مخضرم أدرك الجاهلية، والإسلام وشهد فتح مكة، وكان معه لواء بن سليم. وشهد حينيا وثبت على إسلامه في الردة. وكان خفاف شاعراً من شعراء الجاهلية وفارساً من فرسانها، فهو أحد فرسان قيس وشعرائها المذكورين. قال الأصمعي:"خفاف ودريد بن الصمة أشعر الفرسان، وهو أحد أغربة العرب، أي سودانهم، لأنه كان أسوداً حالكاً". كان يتحلى بأخلاق الفرس الجاهلي. كان شاعراً فحلاً لكن لا يمكن القول أنه من كبار الفحول. فالنظرة الفاحصة المتأنية لديوانه يظهر أن أغلب ما قاله من شعر، كان في القسم الجاهلي من حياته، ولاسيما في المهاجاة التي نشبت بينه وبين ابن عمه العباس بن مرداس السلمي، لذلك لا عجب أن تكون الأغراض الشعرية الجاهلية من مدح، وهجاء، وغزل، ووصف هي الأغراض التي تبرز بوضوح أمام القارئ عند قراءته لشعره في هذا الديوان. أما الفن البارز في شعره، والذي ربما يعد بداية فن النقائض، فهي قصائد المهاجاة التي كان يساجل فيها العباس بن مرداس السلمي، وهي التي سجلها على كثرتها صاحب الأغاني، وتبعه صاحب منتهى الطلب.
