هذا الكتاب فيه عرض للنظرية الجمالية للفيلسوف الإيطالي بنديتو كروتشه (BENEDETTO CROCE1866/1952) في أصولها وإمتداداتها الكانطية والهيجلية، وتتمحور هذه النظرية حول فكرة أساسية هي وحدة الإبداع الفني، حيث يسعى إلى التوفيق بين النشاط الباطني (الحدسي/ الروحي) للإبداع الفني والنشاط الخارجي الحسي التعبيري له، وذلك إنطلاقاً من مفهوم محوري في هذه النظرية هو مفهوم "الحدس التعبيري" محتفظاً للإبداع الجمالي، في الوقت نفسه، بغنائيته المميزة لصميميته والتي لا ينفصم عنها، وبعيّانيّته المجسدة له بإعتباره صورة تعبيرية جمالية حسية وليس تجريداً مطلقاً، فالفن يتلوَّن بالحسي كما يتزيَّن ببعده وعمقه الميتافيزيقي.
إن الإبداع الفني، حسب هذه النظرية، يولد في أصله (الحدس) كاملاً، فمضمونه ليس في المفهوم أو الإدراك بل هو في الحدس المحض (المحض من كل تجريد ومن كل عنصر مفهومي)، وتأتي البراعة التعبيرية الخارجية لتنفيذه، فكل حدس لا يمتلك أدواته التعبيرية الجمالية لا يُعتبر حدساً جمالياً مكتملاً، فالتعبير الجمالي يُعد إمتداداً للحدس الجمالي ضمن عملية الإبداع الجمالي.
وهذا ما تعنيه نظرية كروتشه الجمالية بقولها إن الإبداع الفني، والفن عموماً، "حدس تعبيري"، من هنا تعتبر هذه النظرية إضاءة لمفهوم الحدس الفني ولهويته، حيث اكتنفهما كثير من الغموض عبر تاريخ الجمالية، وإعادة طرح، مُجدِّداً، ما أُكِل علينا من طبيعة الحدس الفنّيّ ومن طبيعة جماليّته القائمة على الحدس، فلقد تعودنا أن ننسب إلى الفن مصدراً حدسياً من دون أن نلقي الضوء على حدسية الفنّ، ونلتقي بكثير من الجماليّات السيكولوجيّة القائمة على الحدس، أو نتذوق أعمالاً إبداعيّة جماليّة، لكن يبقى الأمر ضبابياً حين نحاول البحث عمّا يشبع فضولنا لمعرفة طبيعة الحدس الفنّيّ.
وهذا ما يجعل جماليّة كروتشه متميّزة عمَّا ألفَهُ تاريخ الجماليّة من نظريات، كما يجعلها، من جهة ثانية، عملاً تأصيلياً للرؤية الحدسية في الفن والجمال.
