لقد أوجد فوكو منهجاً أركيولوجيا متأثراً بجينيالوجيا نيتشه فقد كان نيتشه يعدّ الملهم الأول لفوكو بل يصنف فوكو بأنه نيتشوي فقد أعلن نيتشه موت الإله وفوكو أعلن موت الإنسان وهذا المنهج الآركيولوجي شكل أداةً معرفية إستطاع من خلالها فوكو أن يبلور نظرته الفكرية التاريخية ويوصل المفاهيم التي اشتغل عليها.
لقد جعل فوكو من تاريخ الهامشيين ميداناً لأفكاره من خلال رؤيته في إبراز تاريخ هذه الفئات بأركيولوجياه فميدان التاريخ الجديد كان مؤثراً في البنية الفكرية الفوكوية؛ لأنها تحمل رؤية تاريخية شاملة، وعامة انتقلت من التواريخ الكلية إلى التواريخ الجزئية، لقد أصبح التاريخ مع التاريخ الجديد تاريخاً يضم مجمل العلوم الإنسانية، وبالتالي ولدت لدينا تواريخ داخل التاريخ الواحد.
صحيح أن ميشيل فوكو لم يستقر على المنهج الأركيولوجي في مشروعه الفكري، حيث كان يتنقل من الأركيولوجيا إلى البنيوية إلى الجينيالوجيا والتأويل، وهذا ما أملاه عليه مشروعه الفكري فكل محطة فكرية يناسبها منهجٌ، ورؤية معينة.
إن ميراث فوكو الفكري كبير ومهم من الصعوبة الإحاطة به لذا رأى الباحث اختيار جانباً من هذا الفكر الثري وهو منهجه الأركيولوجي لما لهذا المنهج من أهمية بالغة في الفكر الفوكوي وما يشكله من ركيزة مهمة لفهم هذا الفكر وإبرازه فمن خلال فهمه نستطيع فك طلاسم الفكر الفوكوي وإيضاح رؤياه الفكرية بما امتلكه هذا المنهج بفكر فوكو بحيث أصبح لا يميز بين فكر فوكو ومنهجه؛ لأنهما يشكلان كلاً واحداً فأحدهما طريقٌ ورؤية، والآخر غايةً ونتيجة فهما صنوان لا يفترقان.
وأيضاً لفهم فكره التاريخي لا بد من دراسة الخلفية المعرفية لهذا الفكر والمتمثلة بمدرسة التاريخ الجديد تلك المدرسة التي شكلت ثورة معرفية في علم التاريخ لما تبنته من رؤية جديدة تختلف وتضاد رؤية التاريخ الكلاسيكي فهي مدرسة تؤمن بإنفتاح التاريخ على مختلف العلوم وإبتعادها عن التاريخ الحدثي وتنوع مواضيعها من ما شكل رافداً أغنى رؤية فوكو الفكرية وبالتالي تأثر بها فوكو وأثر بها فالتأثير متبادل...
