علم الأصول علم تكوّن عبر مراحل متعددة من التاريخ ولم يتم تأسيسه بين عشية وضحاها وإنما هو نتيجة جهد العلماء عبر القرون، وهذه الجهود أساسها في مدرسة أهل بيت العصمة عليهم السلام.
ولقد كانت كلماتها يؤخذ منها قواعد وأسس لقواعد أصولية، مثلاً قول المعصوم (ابق ما كان كما كان) الذي أخذت منه قاعدة الإستصحاب، وهكذا حتى تبلورت معالم هذا العلم، وأصبح محط أنظار العلماء.
وهذا الكتاب مادته أوراق متناثرة ودفاتر قديمة من كتابات المقدس الوالد قبل أربعين أو خمسين سنة، وبعد إنتقاله إلى جوار ربه وبعد سبع وعشرين سنة وقع تحت يدي بعض الدفاتر والمواضيع الأصولية، وبعضها أوراق مهلهلة أنقذتها من العدم جمعتها كلها في موضوع واحد في كتاب واحد اسمه (أوراق أصولية) يشتمل على مواضيع متعددة.
وهنا أحب أن أقول: أولاً: إن المادة الاولى التي تحتوي على مواضيع هذا الكتاب هي دفاتر قديمة تعود إلى نصف قرن من الزمان، وقد اتخذت أسلوباً لتهيئتها للطع وأخذت مني جهداً لعل قلع الصخر أهون منه، فقد كنت أنقل الموجود إلى ورقة خارجية ثم كتابتها في الدفتر الأساسي المعدّ للطبع.
ثانياً: إن المقدس الوالد المؤلف في بعض المسودات ذكر مسائل متفرقة في دفاتر متعددة وبعضها مكتوب بقلم رصاص عفى عليها الزمن، فكانت أوراقاً متفرقة جمعها وربطها مع عناوينها، وذكرتها كما هي لم أتدخل بالمعنى حفاظاً على أمانة النقل، ثالثاً: تبين من مطاوي هذه المسودات أن بعضها كان تحريراً لما كان قد حضره على أستاذه السيد الخوئي في دوراته الأصولية الأولى، وبعضها على كفاية الأصول كان حرره عند تدريسه لها، رابعاً: وحفاظاً على أمانة النقل أقول في بعض الأحيان، وأنا أحرر الورقة تارة أختصر حذفاً للمكرر، وآخر قد أزيد بما لا يؤثر على أصل الموضوع وإعادة ذلك إلى ضمائر فإن بعض هذه الكتابات بحوث كتبت على غفلة من الزمن.
