لقد أراد "أحمد خلف" أن يكون شاهد صدق على عصره، وأن لا تبقى تلك الشهادة حبيسة صناديق مقفلة، فجاءت مشفرة بأدوات مختلفة للتشفير، لتخفي تحتها الدلالات المتضمنة للشهادة التي يروم الإدلاء بها...
تروي قصة "تيمور الحزين" أحداثاً عن سلطان مغولي جبار يتجه إلى غزو بغددا وحين يقف أمام أسوارها يخرج له حسين الصوفي البغدادي ويخوض معه مبارزة شديدة من أجل حماية بغداد، فتنتهي المبارزة بمقتل السلطان الأجنبي الجبار وانتصار حسين الصوفي البغدادي، وبقاء بغداد منيعة على أقدام الغزاة. إن الدلالة التي تشير إليها هذه الحكاية في ضوء الواقع التاريخي الذي تتحدث عنه؛ هي التلميح الواضح عن هزيمة الغزاة الذين يحاصرون بغداد منذ سنوات، إلى عصرنا الراهن، حيث تجسد المنازلة بين تيمور وحسين الصوفي العلاقة الجدلية بين البنيات الذهبية القائمة في المجتمع، والتناغم في اشتغالها سوياً من أجل التغيير أي "تصور إمكانية التغيير الواقع القائم وتعديله على وفق ما تراه الجماعة محققاً التوازن المنشود".
