وقد جاء هذا الكتاب في أربعة فصول، خُصص الأول منها للكلام على الحديث بين القبول والعمل، وتحدث الثاني عن صفات القبول لدى المحدثين، وبحثَ ثالثها في صفات القبول عند الأصوليين، وأُفرد الأخير للحديث عن الخلاف ذاته بين الأصوليين والمحدثين، كما يتجلى في نظر الأصولي ونظر المحدّث من خلال صَوْغه في أصول كلية تجمع جزئيات شتى، وتوضح اختلاف مدارك النظر ومجالاته.
