مسكن رائع في حي متميز، وبدون مقدم، وبإيجار زهيد، إنها معجزة، أليس كذلك؟ تنبهر السيدة "روبنسون" بذلك المسكن وتذهب لتعاينه، فتقابل إحدى صديقاتها خارجة منه لتخبرها بأنه قد شغل، لكنها تصر على التأكد من الخبر، وتصعد إليه فتفاجأ بأنه لم يشغل وأن أصحابه يرحبون بها. وتتلاحق الأحداث لتكشف عن أسرار كثيرة. ترى ما سر تلك الشقة؟ وماذا وراءها؟!
كانت مجرد أسطورة صينية خيالية، لم يكن أحد ليعيرها اهتمامه، كانت هناك ألماستان: إحداهما تمثل العين اليسرى للإله الصيني تسمى "نجمة الشرق". ولكنهما سرقتا. فكيف ينفذ الإله تهديده لأصحاب الألماستين، وكيف يستعيد عينيه؟
وماذا يفعل "بوارو" حيال تلك الأحداث الخيالية ويتصدى للإله الصيني، وينزع منه عينيه؟!
