يعمد هذا الكتاب إلى إستعراض خبرة العارف بعلوم القرآن الكريم؛ ليثير من خلالها مسألة الوحي ضمن تلك العلوم، ليؤكد أن الوحي ضرب من إستجابة القرآن الكريم لأسئلة الواقع، ليس القرآن الكريم نصاً منزلاً يُري ولا يَرى، أو يُسمع ولا يَسمع، أو يُقرأ ولا يَقرأ، وإنما هو نص يَقول، ويَكشف، ويفسِّر، ويظهِر [وهذه كلها من معاني الوحي]؛ لأنه يجيب عن أسئلة اليومي؛ أعني عن أسئلة المعنى، وأسئلة العمل، وأسئلة القيمة، وأسئلة المصير.
يفتح الكتاب آفاقاً للتفكير في ضوء المنحى الثقافي الذي طرحه الدكتور صابر مولاي أحمد، وبلغ ذروته عندما أعطى مفتاح مسألة الوحي؛ فالوحي وحي لكون الرسول بشراً، كان يمكن أن يستنبط القرآن الكريم ضرباً من الكائن الوسيط الذي يجمع بين الألوهية والبشرية [مثلما في السّرديات المسيحية]، ولكنّه أصرّ على بشرية الرسول؛ إذ على الرغم من أنه في أعلى مراتب الوحي يظل بشراً...
إلى هذا التأمل يدعونا صابر مولاي أحمد، تفكراً منا في أنفسنا، وإعادة تقدير علاقتنا بالله تعالى وبالقرآن الكريم بما نحن بشر تتدخل بشريتنا في الوحي كسؤال عن الوجود لا ينفك يجيب عنه القرآن الكريم: ﴿قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُكُمْ يُوحَى إِلَيَّ...﴾. [سورة فصلت: آية 6].
