مالك بن نبي، مفكر إسلامي، مصلح ومجدِّد، صاحب آراء واقعيَّة، يمتاز بحسن فهمه الإسلام، واعتزازه بأمته، واطلاعه الواسع على الثقافة الغربية، ما يؤهله لتقديم نظريات عمليَّة لنهضة المسلمين، فهو يقول: "لا يجوز لأحد أن يضع الحلول والمناهج، مغفِلاً مكان أمَّته ومركزها، بل عليه أن تنسجم أفكاره، وعواطفه، وأقواله، وخطواته، مع ما تقتضيه المرحلة التي فيها أمَّته، أما أن يستورد حلولاً من الشرق أو الغرب، فإن في ذلك تضييعاً للجهد، ومضاعفة للداء، إذ كل تقليد في هذا الميدان جهل وانتحار. فالفرق شاسع بين مشاكل ندرسها في إطار الدورة الزمنية القريبة، ومشاكل أخرى تولدت في نطاق الدورة الإسلامية".
