في تجربتها الأدبية الأولى "أجدل نهراً كي لا أغرق" تخرج جميلة عبد الرضا بهدوء ووقار صبية تتسامر في حضرة الشعر، تتدحرج على حدود القصيدة وتخومها، كطفلة هبطت من عالم آخر، يشع بالضياء، انعكس نوره على فضاءات الكلمة، فخرجت لنا بقصائد هي أشبه برسائل وردية، يحملها حمام زاجل بدون عنوان.
هي شاعرة تغازل من خلال القصيد حبيباً غائباً حاضراً، وتشعر بحلاوة الغياب فكل الأشياء والمحسومات لديها مغيبة "متماهية كشهب/ حانية كطيف/ منكسرة كجسر الدمع/ طلَى أن نأى ووار بي النظرة/ كلما رنَم المساء/ تيهي في الغيب/ ثم انهمري فوق أصابعه كالقصيدة" وبهذا المعنى تراسل الشاعرة الغيب بأحرف غيب آخر، إنها كفراشة تائهة تضيء أجنحتها القوس قزحية بألوان من الأفكار والموضوعات، تخترق الفضاءات، وتبدد سكون الصمت ووحشة الليل، قلمها مجداف يغوص في أعماق النفس البشرية "أي حزنٍ يتألف في أعمارنا!/ نسرق النجوم في عينٍ/ تخبو في العيون الباقيات/ مهجة النار الكبرى/ وبرد الأشقياء" بهذه الكلمات، تحاول الشاعرة أن تفتح روحاً في ظلالنا القاتمة، أثناء سباقنا مع الزمن، وتذكرنا أن الزمن ناكر/ وأن من لا يجيد رسم طريقة سيضيع في زحمة الحاضر...
يضم الديوان (72) قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث نذكر من عناوينها: "هطولات الحنين"، "الأسماء"، "نهر التوق"، "نداء"، "نهج يدي"، "سورة الحنين"، ستائر مطرزة بالصهيل" (...) وقصائد أخرى.
