هذا الكشاف الذي نصفه اليوم بين أيدي دارسي القرآن الكريم وتفاسيره الكبرى عبر العصور هو الأول من نوعه إذ يبين أين ورد تفسير كل آية من آياته البيانات، والمنهج المتبع في إعداده على فتح ملف لكل آية من آياتها لـ 6236 (السنة آلاف ومئتان وسنة وثلاثون) ملفاً خاصاً، أدرج فيه السورة ورقمها، ثم الآية ورقمها. وفي المثال لا الحصر: "الم" في الآية رقم (1) من سورة البقرة ورقمها (2) في ترتيب المصحف العثماني.
وبعد أن تم التدقيق في ذلك أضيف إلى الملف أين يجدها الباحث في كتب التفاسير الكبرى المعتمدة في هذا الكشاف ورتبت حسب تسلسلها الزمني من الثالث الهجري حتى أواخر القرن الرابع عشر ابتداءً بالطبري والزمخشري والرازي والطبرسي وابن عربي والبيضاوي والخازن والقرطبي وأبو حيان، وبان كثير والجلالين والشوكاني والآلوسي والقاسمي ومحمد عبده، والطباطبائي وجوهري والمراغي وسيد قطب وابن الخطيب. كل هذه التفاسير كاملة باستثناء تفسير محمد عبده الذي بقي في هذا الكشاف نظراً لأهميته. وكلها تمثل التيارات الفكرية والمدارس الفقهية والاتجاهات الطائفية التي تفاعلت في مجرى التاريخ الإسلامي.
