في كتابه "طيور المحابر" يقدم الناقد موريس وديع النجار قراءة في أعمال الشاعر جوزف صايغ من لبنان. قدم للكتاب بمقدمة الدكتور يوسف عيد وجاءت تحت عنوان "وهاج بشعر الصايغ" ومما جاء فيها: "كما يُعرف العطار من عطره، والخمّار من خمرته، كذا يُعرف "موريس النجار" من فلذات روحه المنتشرة على السطور ... في تناوله "جوزف الصايغ" اللاهث خلف الحقيقة، حيث توالدت من ريق قلمه، الرموز والدلالات، لتومض في عمق الإنسان اللامرئي، وتعزل القصائد عن انعكاسات المرايا المسورة لهذا الكون، الداخلة نبض الحياة ...". يتبع ذلك "مستهل" بقلم المؤلف النجار تحدث فيه عن جوزف صايغ وقال فيه: "واحدٌ من رهابين الحرف، القانتين في محرابه، الموقدين البخور، أبداً، للكلمة الساحرة المجنحة الموحية، يطلب وصالها، "قصيدتي عشيقتي" ، ولو على ضنك الليالي والتوحد والعزلة، وهو القائل: "يا خليلات وحدتي، / يا مصابيح شهادتي / أنتن / يا كلماتي". إلى ذلك يتحدث المؤلف في هذا الكتاب عن مذهب جوزف حرب الشعري والأدبي "هو شاعر حرٌّ الأداء، لا ينتسب إلى مدرسة، أو يحصره مذهب" وله رأي في قصيدة النثر: "وليس الشعر نثراً شعرياً ولا هو بشعر منثور. النثر الشعري امرأة جميلة تتخطر، وأما الشعر فباليرين: امرأة راقصة، لغة تخرج من اللغة على اللغة لتجعلها مبدأ". وعن "أسلوبه ولغته" يقول: "الأسلوب "الصايغي" مترف لا يشكو تقشفاً لغوياً، بل يزينه بذخٌ، وتسامٍ عن المبتذل والمكرور ..." وأما عن كتاب الشاعر حرب الفريد "كتاب آن – كولين" فيعتبره المؤلف "سفرٌ في العشق، ما أتحفتنا المكتبات بمثيله، ولا أوتي لشاعر من قبل أن نذر أنفاسه ومداده لرحلة حب صوفية طويلة، أدعيتها حُرق الجوارح في أنغام سماء ...". هذا بالإضافة إلى قراءة المؤلف لكتب أدبية أخرى للشاعر مثل كتابه "أرز" وقبسات أخرى من "المؤلفات الشعرية" في أجزائه الأربعة مع التعليق عليها. ويختتم الكتاب بقصيدة مهداة إلى جوزف حرب بعنوان "يا صائغ الحسن".
