سعد محمد رحيم (مواليد 1957 - توفي في 9 أبريل 2018) كان كاتب ومؤلف قصص عراقي، عمل في التدريس والصحافة، ولقد صدرت لهُ ستة مجموعات قصصية، وعدة كتب فكرية ونقدية، كما أصدر ثلاث روايات: هي رواية "غسق الكراكي" التي فازت بجائزة الإبداع الروائي العراقي سنة 2000، ورواية "ترنيمة امرأة، شفق البحر"، ورواية "مقتل بائع الكتب" التي وصلت إلى القائمة القصيرة لجائزة البوكر العربية 2017، ورواية "فسحة للجنون" كما صدرت له عدة كتب ودراسات منها :استعادة ماركس" و"المثقف الذي يدس أنفه"، وصدرت روايتين له بعد رحيله هما "لما تحطمت الجرة" ورواية "القطار إلى منزل هانا".
كما حصل على جائزة "كتارا" للرواية العربية لعام 2016 عن روايتهِ غير المنشورة "ظلال جسد.. ضفاف الرغبة".

نحن أبناء السرد، كهنة معبده، الواقعون في أسره، في أسر سحره... فمن اللحظة التي ابتكر فيها الإنسان في السرد انكسر نسق حياته البدائي / الوحشي فصار يفكر بكونه مركز الوجود.
وأنه ليس معطىً عرضياً للعالم بل هو فاعل فيه ومغيّر، فيما صارت الحضارة الإنسانية ممكنة، فمع السرد بات الإنسان يعلم أنه مميز بوعي كينونته، وأنه صانع قيم، ومبدع تجربة فريدة، حيث السرد وسيلته لتنظيم فوضى التجربة تلك، وإستخلاص معنى للحياة عبر علاقة البشر بعضهم ببعض، وعلاقتهم بالطبيعة وما وراءها.
إن كوني قارئاً لنص سردي يورطني في نوع من السجال أو الحوار أو التواصل الخفي مع مبدع النص السردي، مع إشاراته ورموزه التي أودعها في داخل النص، وما تسرب من لا وعيه إلى لا وعي النص... إن ما يرغب به المؤلف في نهاية المطاف هو رج قارئه في تضاعيف النص، كما لو أن القارئ جزء من النص، لا يفكر أبداً بالتملص والإفلات والهرب...
هنا نستطيع حقاً الكلام عن السارد الساحر والمسرود له المسحور، أو بعبارة أخرى؛ عن سحر السرد.
