تعرفت بالدكتورة / أيرين مونتجوي في صيف عام 1982م عندما أقمت في منزلها في فيينا، أثناء قضائها لإجازتها السنوية في منزلها الصيفي خارج فيينا، وقد تركت في المنزل جميع الأغراض المنزلية التي يمكن أن يستفاد منها من مؤن وبهارات، بما في ذلك ألعاب ابنها الوحيد دوجلاس، تقديراً منها لوجود صغيراتي الثلاث.
وفي تلك الشقة التي تطل على جهات ثلاث قضيت أجمل إجازة صيف، وزادها جمالاً تردد الدكتورة / أيرين علي بين فترة وأخرى لزيارتنا مع أفراد أسرتها، وأظهرت كثيراً من الإحترام للإسلام والإهتمام والإعجاب بشخص النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، وقد ظل حبل الود موصلاً بيني وبين الدكتورة / أيرين، التي لم تتح لي الفرصة لمقابلتها مرة أخرى، وذلك من خلال صديقة نمساوية مشتركة كانت تقيم في الرياض، وكانت تزودني بأخبار الدكتورة / مونتجوي وأسرتها، ونشاطها العلمي والعملي والإجتماعي، وتمدني بإصداراتها العلمية، من أبرزها بالنسبة لي مقالة عن الإسلام والنبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم.
وهذه القصة التي بين أيديكم تظهر جانباً من نظرة المجتمع الأوروبي، في ذلك الوقت، للإسلام، في وقت هدأت فيه حدة الصراع بين النمسا والدولة العثمانية، أهم ما يميز الدكتورة / مونتجوي أنها نموذج للمرأة الدارسة والباحثة والعاملة في ميادين العمل الإجتماعي؛ وفوق ذلك الأم التي حرصت على واجبها الأسري وحافظت على علاقة متميزة بأفراد أسرتها وعلى رأسهم ابنها دوجلاس.
