ولقد غاص المؤلّفان في عمق التاريخ من دون أن يجملاّنه، فلم يغمضا العيون عمّا شاب حضاراته المتعاقبة من شوائب، بتركا للقارئ أن يستخرج من حوادث التاريخ وحضاراته دروساً يتعلّمها، وعبراً يقيس عليها الحوادث الحاضرة، من هذه الدروس والعبّر: 1-إنّ الفساد في الأحكام من فساد الحكّام، فإنْ راقت أمزجتهم حلّت النعمة، وإنْ تكدّرت وقعت النّكبة، 2-إنّ سلوك الجماعة كسلوك حكّامها يحكمه منطق القوّة، وإنّ الدِّين كان مطيّة للطّامحين في الإدارة والسياسة والوجاهة، 3-إنّ لا حل "للمسألة الشرقيّة"، التي أظهرها الغرب كصراع للحضارات والأديان ليبسط نفوذه على هذا الشرق، إلاّ ببناء أوطان عصريّة تنطلق من وحدة الأرض ووحدة التاريخ ووحدة القيم، وأوّلاً وآخراً الإعتراف بالآخر كشريك له الحقوق نفسها وعليه الواجبات ذاتها، 4-إنّ عالمنا العربيّ، نتيجة تراجع دور الدول والحكومات في تقديم الخدمات، يشهد قيام مؤسّسات دينية ذات طابع سياسيّ أو إقتصاديّ أو إجتماعيّ أو ثقافيّ عملت على إبراز نشاطها وكأنه صراع حضارات في حدّه الأقصى، 5- إنّ نجاح قوى التعصّب من خلال تخلّفها وتعصبّها، تكون قد قدّمت للكيان الصهيونيّ الدعائم والحجج التي تخدم مخطّطاته.
