يحتوي هذا الكتاب على سنة كتب تدور حول موضوع واحد، الأول هو كتاب "البرهان في معرفة عقائد أهل الأديان"، للعلامة الفضل عباس السكسكي الحنبلي، الثاني: "ذكر مذاهب الثنتين وسبعين المخالفة للسنة والمبتدعين" للعلامة اليافعي، وقد استفاد كثيراً من البرهان-المتقدم ذكره. والكتاب الثالث "بيان الفرق الضالة" لابن الجوزي، والكتاب الرابع: مقالة في شرح قوله صلى الله عليه وسلم "ستفرق أمتي على ثلاث وسبعين فرقة"، وتعد يدها بأسمائها لأبي القاسم عبد بن أحمد الكرماني، الكتاب الخامس: "هو المختار النفيس في الانتصار لأصحاب الحديث" لأبي المظفر السمعاني، وهو مأخوذ ممن نقلوا عنه في كتبهم. الكتاب السادس: "ميزان الجرح والتعديل" للعلامة الفاسي، وهي رسالة وبحث نفيس في نوعه.
كتاب هام فيه مجموعة وكوكبة من معارف وإيضاحات العلماء المتقدمين بذكر الفرق والطوائف من المبتدعين، وكل ذلك ليندرج تحت شرح الحديث النبوي: ستفترق أمتي إلى اثنتين وسبعين فرقة. وقد ركز مؤلفو هذا المجموع على توضيح أمر الفرقة الناجية وأوردوا .كثيراً من الزيادات والفوائد واللطائف.
