…عصرت الشّال بيدها، وتلفّتت حولها كالتّائهة، أين أنت يا مريم؟ ركضت بالاتّجاه المعاكس، بحثت عيناها عن أيّ شيء، عن دليل، حتى لو كان خشبة يابسة مهملة على طرف ذلك الطّريق الفارغ إلا من نعيق الغربان، ركضت وهي تصمّ أذنيها، بعيداً تاهت خطواتها، شعرت أنّ تلك الطريق لانهاية لها، طريق مغروسة بالعيون، لاحقتها تلك العيون، نبتت في كلّ مكان، وأيدٍ، أيدٍ من تراب، حاولت إمساكها، ركضت مغمضة العينين من دون توقّف، ثمّ تعثّرت، سقطت محاولة النّهوض، من دون أن تستطيع، خارت قواها، وتمكنّت منها تلك العيون، حتّى دخلت إحداها.
