يشتمل الكتاب على تقصٍّ شامل للحياة الموسيقية والغنائية (دينيّها وغزليّها) في مدينة حلب منذ أوائل القرن العشرين وحتى الآن؛ والقوالب التي تعود الحلب غناءها مزوداً بالمدونات الموسيقية (النوتات)، إذ يتحدث المؤلف فيه عن (تلاوة القرآن الكريم وقواعده اللحنية ـ القصيدة المرتجلة ـ الدور ـ الموال الحلبي..) ثم ينتقل إلى التعريف بالقد وتاريخ نشوئه ـ معرجاً على أشكالها وطرق صياغتها وأهم شعرائها ـ وأيهما أسبق صناعة الديني منها أم الأغنية الشعبية التي صيغ على أعاريضها ـ الملحنون الذين اقتبسوا منها "كلاً أو جزءاً"!! ثم مدونات (نونات) لـ "122" قداً مرفقة بسيرة تاريخية وتحليلية له؛ منهياً الكتاب بفهارس للموضوعات ـ المؤلفات الآلية والغنائية التي مرت في الكتاب، ذاكراً أسماء ملحنيها، معرفاً بإيجاز بهم ـ فهارس بالمقرئين والملحنين والمطربين الذين ذكروا في ثنايا البحث ـ فهرس بالمصطلحات الموسيقية والفنية الدينية...
