"ذاكرة النسيان" هو عنوان الرواية الأولى للكاتبة اللبنانية عيدا كنيعو، تسلط من خلالها الضوء على مرض الألزهايمر وتطوره ونتائجه على المريض وأسرته.
تبدأ المواجهة حين يُخبر الطبيب مريضه وعائلته، "للأسف، إنها عوارض الألزهايمر" وهنا تبدأ الكاتبة بوضع بطلها في مواجهة مع الحياة ومع المرض، فتحيلنا إلى حالة عكوف المريض على داخله في الأيام الصعبة التي سيواجهها، وكان المخرج بالنسبة إليه هي الكتابة في بداية المرض في لوحات بديعة يتجاوز فيها السردي مع الشعري مع الوجداني، لتندمج هذه المستويات من الكتابة في تناغم جميل في النص يمنح اللغة فرادتها وتميزها "جلس على الشط، وبدأ الكتب: لن أعود مثلك أيها البحر... لن أستطيع إحياء الذكريات... أمواجي سوف تصبح فارغة... فارغة تماماً... لا حكايات بداخلها...".
ومع تقدم المرض بدأ بكتابة مذكراته، وخص زوجته وابنته برسائل جميلة، ولكن ما أن عرف أن سبيلاً للشفاء، قرر وضع حد لحالته، محاولاً أن يقلب المرض قبل أن يغلبه "تناول مسدسة... حملهُ بيده، ودفتر مذكراته بيد أخرى... جلس على سريره يتأمل الدفتر مقلقاً... هي ثوانٍ... كانت ثواني... أطلق رصاصةً أولى بإتجاه رأسه... تلتها الثانية وانطرح أرضاً...".
بعد رحلة علاج طويلة ساندته أسرته وأصدقاؤه خلالها أصبح للمريض ذاكرة أخرى هي حبَّ من حوله "كلنا ذاكرتك" هكذا عبروا له عن حبهم له، تقول الكاتبة "أن الألزهايمر يستطيع أن يُنسى المرء الأشخاص والأشكال، لكنه لن يستطيع أن يقضي على العاطفة" ما يعني أن لا ذاكرة تضاهي ذاكرة الإنسان العاطفية، وأن الزمن مهما اشتد وحاول أن ينتزع الذكريات لن يقوى على المشاعر... ولأن آخر شيء ممكن أن ينساه الإنسان هو الذاكرة العاطفية، سيبقى الأمل بالشفاء مجدداً مع شروق كل يوم جديد.
