يبدو أن ذلك يُدعى: "الجمالية، العودة"، هانحن نعيش نهاية حلقة دائرية، قد استوحاها الشعراء والفلاسفة الألمان حين قاموا بردة فعلهم حيال "الأنوار" وحيال علم الجمال لدى كانط: وهي حلقة أطروحة الفن النظرية.
ومنذئذ، لم يعد المرء يعتقد أن الفن قد يشرع على حقائق متعالية لا تطالها المناشط الفكرية الدنيوية. فقد تسببت أزمة الطلائعيين، بوجه خاص، بإعادتها الشرعية إلى الموقف الجمالي، وإلى المتعة التي تستطيع بعض الأعمال منحها، وإلى التقدير الذاتي الذي يقدر حيال هذه الأعمال.
بيد أن هذه العودة تتخذ تصرفات لإعادة الأمور إلى نصابها. لكن علم الجمال له هو أيضاً ترهاته. وإذ لم يكن أقلّها أن الطبيعة لربما تكون خاصية بالأعمال، فيما تلبث بعداً لسلوكاتنا حيال بعض الأعمال، فيما تلبث بُعداً لسلوكاتنا حيال بعض الأعمال، كما هي بعد لبعض الحوادث أو الأشياء التي تفتقد كل صفة.
ومن ثم لا شيء يغدو أكثر خطأ من التأكيد - وهو تعميم جرى إنطلاقاً من كانط - بأن علاقتنا بالفن قد تنقلنا إلى داخل حالة من رؤيا شفافة، رؤيا تفهمّ حدسي يتيسر تقاسمه على الصعيد العالمي.
وبفضل جان ماري شنيفر، ها هي الجمالية وتم انتصابها من جديد: وإن موضوعها الحقيقي، أحرى من النظريات، ينبغي أن يكون السلوكات، العلاقات التي توثقنا بعالم الأعمال كما توثقنا بالعالم لا بسواه، وهي السلوكات حيث تصبح المعرفة العادية منبع متعة، وحيث يتدخل كل من: الذاتية، والإستعدادات المكتسبة والذاكرة، والإحساسات. وعندئذ سنكف عن كوننا كهؤلاء الذين يفضلون منع المجتمع للمحادثات وللإتفاقات الجمالية الإجتماعية، على التعمق المتئد، والحريص على الدقة، والصبور، في الطرق التي يستطيع بها عمل من الأعمال أن يثري حياتهم. وهؤلاء أنفسهم هم الذين كتب عنهم بروست ما يلي: "إنهم لعديدون هؤلاء الذين يكتفون بما هم عليه، ولايستمدون شيئاً من إنطباعهم، فيهرمون دون جدوى، ويلبثون دون أي رضى، بصفتهم عُزاباً للفن!"
