يقدم هذا الكتاب شخصية عربية مناضلة هي "عدنان كامل سالم" المفكر الفلسطيني الكبير الذي ساهم في رفد الثقافة العربية المعاصرة بمساهمات مهمة في قضايا فلسفية وسياسية تخص العالم العربي والإسلامي.
جاء الكتاب بتقديم الدكتورة لينا رافعي سالم، زوجة عدنان سالم وهو على قسمين: القسم الأول يتضمن دراسة (في معنى آفاقية الآفاق) بقلم عدنان كامل سالم، والقسم الثاني شهادات محبي الراحل عدنان كامل سالم عنه.
تتمحور فكرة الدراسة في القسم الأول حول إنحطاط الفكر بصورة دائمة وتحوله إلى مجرد عملية تكرار لذاته في علاقته مع الأشياء. وهنا يشرح عدنان كامل سالم الفكرة بقوله: "(أي ما يسميه تفكيره بهذه الأشياء وبالتالي مواقفه وممارساته "العلمية"! اتجاهها). الأمر الذي يعني هذا الفكر بدلا من التعامل مع الأشياء إنما يتعامل مع ذاته، ومع ذاته فقط، بمناسبة كل الأشياء، ولا يرى من حدود للأشياء غير حدود قصوره.
ويتابع "وهكذا، فإن اللا-فكر الدارج واللا-عقل العادي لا يمارسان "التفكير"، و"العقل" - نتيجة لـ"لا-آفاقيتهما" - إلا كلعبة "مرآة"، ترد إليهما بهاء وجهيهما بدلاً من حقيقة الأشياء. ومن هنا طابع البربرية والسحر الذي يميزهما، والذي لم تستطع كل إدعاءاتهما العلمية والابستمولوجية والتجديدية، وحتى "التجاوزية" المعاصرة، أن تخفي بؤسه السحيق: غوراً وقدماً".
