يطالعُ القارئَ، في هذا الكتاب، مجموعةُ "حكايات" غايةٍ في الفرادة، سواءٌ بموضوعاتها أَو مَراميها أَو أُسلوبها-هذا، إذا لم نقلْ إنَّها فريدةٌ في بابها. ما تكاد تفتحُ دفَّة الكتاب حتَّى يحملَك خيالُ زينا حدَّاد على جناحَين جبَّارَين. وسرعانَ ما يرتفعان بك في "رحلاتٍ إلى المجهول"، فإذا بكَ في المحيطات السماويَّة الشاسعة الأَبعاد، بعيدًا عن الأَرض. تحرصُ زينا حدَّاد، بأُسلوبِها الطَّليِّ الفتيِّ، على أَن تظلَّ نقيَّةً شفَّافة بالرغم من تقدُّمِها في العمر. ولذلك، فهي تستطيع، بـ"حكاياتها"، أَن تستولي على أَلباب الشباب وغيرِ الشباب. "حكاياتٌ" ممتعة ومفيدة في الآن نفسِه. تندرجُ قِطَعُ الكتاب في خمسة محاور: الغزل الروحيّ، والتأَمُّل الفلسفيّ، وبُطلان الحياة الدنيا، والفساد البشريّ، والحنين إلى عالَم الروح. على أَنَّ في الكتاب قطعةً أَخيرة تخرجُ عن تلك المَحاوِر، عنوانُها "وداع عام 1944"، وموضوعُها الاضطهاد وما لاقاه المؤلِّف بسببه من تعذيبٍ وتشريد. ولعلَّ لهذه القطعة النصيبَ الأَكبر في عنوان الكتاب
