وُلد في القاهرة عام 1948، وانتقل إلى باريس عندما كان شاباً يافعاً حيث أكمل دراسته (إذ حصل على الماجستير في الرياضيات من جامعة باريس السابعة Université Paris VII في عام 1971، وعلى دبلوم اللغة العربية من المعهد الوطني للغات والحضارات الشرقية في عام 1977، ودكتوراه حول منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية من مدرسة الدراسات العليا للعلوم الاجتماعية في عام 1983).
وهو عضو في المجلس الإداري لمعهد العالم العربي (IMA)، ورئيس جمعية الصحفيين الفرنسيين المتخصصة في شؤون المغرب العربي والشرق الأوسط (AJMO).
وتشمل مؤلفاته: منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية: الكفاح الداخلي The PLO, The) (Struggle Within، الخطر الاسلامي (Un péril islamiste)، اسرائيل وفلسطين: حقائق حول النزاع (Israël-Palestine, vérités sur un conflit) ، كما شارك في تأليف كتاب مع المؤلف دومينيك فيدال ( (Dominique Vidal، يحمل عنوان: من الألف إلى الياء بخصوص الشرق الأوسط، فلسطين 1947، تجزئة خائبة (A to Z to the Middle East; Palestine 1947, un partage (avorté.
وقد تمّت ترجمة كتابه فلسطين وإسرائيل: حقائق حول النزاع إلى اللغات الألمانية، والعربية، والهولندية، والإيطالية، والإسبانية، والبرتغالية.
