في عمله هذا يناقش الكاتب "عبد الحسين شرق الدين" مسألة تدخل في صميم العقيدة الإسلامية وهي بتعبير الكاتب "لميثاق والولاية" ويعني بها أحقبة أهل البيت عليهم السلام بالولاية والإمامية والخلافة بعد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، ويؤيد حجته بآيات من القرآن الكريم، وأحاديث النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم برواية الفريقين السني والشيعي وما جاء في بطون الكتب الصحيحة منذ البعثة النبوية الشريفة، وحتى وفاته صلى الله عليه وسلم.
يستند مؤلف الكتاب في هذه الرسالة على آية قرآنية تقول: "وإذا أخذ بك من بني آدم من ظهورها ذريتهم وأشهدهم على أنفسهم ألست بربكم قالوا بلى شهدنا..." [سورة الأعراف] ويأتي تفسيرها في الكتاب في مقامين: المقام الأول: "في معنى الآية)، والمقام الثاني: (في الإستشهاد بالآية الكريمة على نبوة نبينا صلى الله عليه وسلم وإمامة أئمتنا عليهم السلام. يلي ذلك أجوبة هامة عن أسئلة إشكالية مهمة من مثل: (لم لم يصرح القرآن بخلافة الإمام عليَ؟!) لماذا (حصرت الخلافة في اثني عشر) إلى آخر ذلك من أدلة يسوقها الكاتب من عصر الرسول للتدليل على أن الإمامة هي من أصل الدين وليس من مزوعه وهذا ما اختلفت حوله المذاهب الإسلامية ويبقى للقارئ الحكم في ما يطرحه الكاتب من تفسيرات ومناقشات...
