ان هذه الشخصية لم تحض بدراسة علمية مستقلة وافية على حد تتبعنا، وهذا الكتاب هو أول دراسة أكاديمية في هذا المجال( فهو رسالة علمية قُدمت إلى جامعة البصرة في أوآخر عام 2008م) فكان ذلك من أحد أسباب أختيارنا لهذا الموضوع، فأن المرور على ذكر عبد الله بن جعفر في كُتب التاريخ كثيراً ما يكّون مروراً خجولاً يكتنفه العموم والغموض دون الغور في مكنون تلك الشخصية، ورغم مقبوليته عند مُختلف المذاهب الإسلامية الا ان التاريخ يرسم بمعالمه العامة أنهُ كان يهادن السلطة (الأموية) وله وفادات عليها(وقد بيّنا بعض أسباب ذلك في ثنايا البحث) الأمر الذي جعلهُ عرضةً للإفتراءآت من جهة كما جعلت الأقلام تمسك عن الخوض في دراسة شخصيته من جهة أخرى، وأحسب سبب ذلك أن السلطة الحاكمة (الأموية والعباسية) كانت تخوض باطلاً في شخصهِ الكريم فتضع عليه الإفتراءآت كي تجد أمتداداً تاريخياً يبرر فساد رجالاتها الذين عاثوا في الأرض الفساد..... ثم جاءت من بعدهم ثلة جاهدت كي تُؤول النصوص لتنسب إليه مانَسَبت دون ان تُخضع قولها إلى التأني أو التمحيص.... وربما معالم المهادنة لهذه الشخصية جعلتها تخضع لقانون أن لم تكن معي فأنت ضدي .......
