إن مسألة زيارة القبور عامة وزيارة قبور الأنبياء والأولياء والترك بها والتوسل عندها، شغلت عامة المسلمين وقد بحث فيها الفقهاء وأشبعوها بحثاً لكنهم لم يتفقوا على رأي واحد بصددها، إذ ذهب فريق إلى أن هذا أمر مستحب وواجب بينما ذهب فريق إلى أن هذا بدعة، تتنافى مع دعوة التوحيد التي جاء بها النبي المعصوم صلى الله عليه وسلم.
والكاتب يرى أن مسألة زيارة القبور وتعظيم الأنبياء والأولياء الصالحين وتشييد قبورهم ليست مختصة بالمسلمين فقط، بل إن لدى الأمم الأخرى مظاهر تعظيم وتبجيل، إذ يرون أن ذلك نوعاً من أداء الحق وتقديراً لمن له الحق. ويورد الكاتب مجموعة من الأدلة الشرعية التي تبيح زيارة القبور عامة وقبر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم والأولياء والأوصياء خاصة.
وقد كان منهجه في ذلك إثبات ذلك من طريق الفطرة والكتاب والسنة والإجماع وسيرة المسلمين وعزز ذلك بالأدلة الخاصة ومن طرق العامة وقد بدأ بدليل الكتاب ثم دليل السنة، ثم عرض الأدلة المخالفين وكلماتهم وذرائعهم في المنع من زيارة القبور.
