ينطوي هذا الكتاب وهو يتأمّل نظريّة نشأة الرّواية العربية اللبنانية على أربعة أقسام رئيسة: القسم الأول: فنّ القصة وهي سحر العقول القلوب، تعريفه وتطوره، فالقصّة اسم جنس لكل ما يقصّ ومنها الرّواية والأقصوصة والحكاية... ثم ظهر نوع قصصي جديد: هو الرّواية... وفي القرن السابع عشر برز كتّاب من مختلف المذاهب الأدبية: الرومانسية، الواقعية، الطبيعية... غدوا من أعلام الأدب العالمي، أما القسم الثاني: ولم يلبث هذا النوع - الفنّ القصصيّ - أن تطوّر وازدهر في الأدب العربي... غدا أكثر إنتشاراً ومن كتّابه أعلام كبار، منهم على سبيل المثال: أمثال: نجيب محفوظ الذي نال جائزة نوبل عام 1989، محمد عبد الحليم عبد الله، توفيق الحكيم، زكريا تامر، يوسف حبشي الأشقر، حنّا مينا، وعبد الرحمن منيف...
ثم حاولت المؤلفة تعريف الرّواية، الفرق بين القصّة والرواية، وأخيراً وليس آخراً تناولت مصادر المادة القصصية وتقنياتها... أمّا القسم الثالث: فيتناول نشأة الرّواية اللبنانية - العربية وتطورها... كيفية إزدهارها في حضن الصحافة... إلى أن أخذت الرّواية مكانها بين الأنواع الأدبية والتمهيد لظهور أول رواية لبنانية: الأجنحة المتكسرة 1914، لــ جبران خليل جبران، وأول رواية عربية: زينب لــ محمد حسين هيكل 1956.
أما القسم الرابع الأخير: فهناك مقتطفات من تحليل قصص متنوعة، ككتاب مشهورين بعضهم معاصرون، إملي نصر الله، نجيب محفوظ، ميخائيل نعيمة، عبد السلام العجيلي، ثم إضاءة فلسفية.
