يقول الريس عن نفسه "إني كمشرقي انتمي إلى هذا المشرق العربي الذي يختزن أهم ذاكرة حضارية على مستوى البشرية كلها..". وفي هذا الكتاب نماذج من لوحاته ومنمنماته، إضافة إلى دراسات بأقلام عدد من الفنانين والنقاد.
