لا يخفى على الباحثين أهمية كتاب "الأعلام" فلخير الدين الزركلي، فهو من أجلِّ كتب التراجم، وهو بين كتب الزركلي أجلُّها قدراً وأبعدها أثراً، وبين كتب التراجم عامَّة من أكثرها إستيعاباً ونفعاً ودقةً وإنصافاً.
بين يدينا كتاب يضم تصحيحات وتعليقات وإستدراكات على كتاب الأعلام لخير الدين الزركلي رحمه الله، وأغلبها في الأصل مقالات منشورة في "مجلة مكتبة الملك فهد الوطنية"، و"مجلة مجمع اللغة العربية بدمشق"، جمعها المؤلف لتعمّ الفائدة بها.
حيث أضافت في هذا الكتاب إلى تلك التعليقات كثيراً من الخطوط والصور التي فات الزركلي إثباتها في كتاب الأعلام.
