كل ذلك دفع الفكر الفلسفي لإعادة النظر، استجابة لهذا التغيير والتقدم العلمي الجديد، فمضى مع الزمن يسير في طريق التبلور ليقترب أكثر من الشمولية القرب إلى الفلسفة الكلبانية للوجود الإنساني الكوني. لكننا سنجد ومن خلال هذا الكتاب الذي يبحث في الفكر الفلسفي المعاصر في فترة ما بعد الحداثة، التناقض الواضح إزاء الأفكار الدينية المستندة إلى اليقينيات المطلقة. تلك التي تظهر عدم توصل الفكر الديني والفلسفي معاً إلى تحديد أبرز معالم المستقبل لحاضر الإنسان ومصيره.
وقد تناول الكتاب عدداً لا بأس به من المفكرين والعلماء الذين بحثوا في هذه المسألة التي تناولها بعضهم من زاوية ضيقة والبعض الآخر توسعوا فيها عبر مقاربات علمية متنوعة. والعيّنات الفكرية التي جرى انتقاؤها كانت من مجالات جغرافية متنوعة ومن تيارات ومشارب فلسفية ودينية مختلفة، التي جمعها حيناً القلق على الوجود الإنساني وفرّقها أحياناً التأويلات الشديدة الإختلاف إلى درجة التناقض حول مصير الإنسان في عالمه ودينه ودنياه.
