تتناغم شعرية محمد قرطاس في الشفيف المتواري خلف الذات الشاعرة ومن اللفظة والمعنى، ومن ترانيم المخيلة، لتنسل القصائد في أنساق لغوية تتراوح بين التداعي والسرد والتشكيل وهي تسترجع إيقاع الذاكرة. ذاكرة الشاعر بكل ما فيها من حب وإنكسار وألم وفرح وحنين إلى ظفار مهده.
في قصيده تحت عنوان (خليط من الحب) يقول الشاعر: أنا والخريف/ وتسع نجوم/ وشجر التين/ وصدر مكابر/ خليط من الحب/ واللا شعور/ وغطرسة الريح/ حين تسافر/ وهذي ظفار/ كأن المساءات بين يديها/ شجون مهاجر/ تنهد من طعنة/ الشوق يوماً/ فأسقط من/ مقلتيه العشائر/ وهذي ظفار/ تدحرج عن/ وجنتيها الضباب/ صلاة وثائر". وهكذا في بقية قصائد المجموعة التي ترشح عن ذاتية متفردة دالة على نبوءة شعرية قل مثيلها عند كثيرون.
يضم الكتاب ما يقارب الـ (60) قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث نذكر من عناوينها: "وطني.. متموسق الفصول"، "عشائر حزني"، "غواية البوح"، "شاعر"، "إلى أثر قدمٍ لثائر"، "حكايتي والشارع البتور"، "حبيبتي والنجوم".
