في اللقاء الأول مع دعد استمعت إليها تقرأ بعض قصائدها من مخطوط يدوي عريض ، بحضور الشاعرين علي كنعان وممدوح عدوان ، فاستعرت منها المخطوط ، وكتبت عنها مقالاً مطولاً أعطيته لزكريا تامر الذي كان يدير مجلة الموقف الأدبي ، في أفضل مراحلها ، فنشر في العدد الثالث من المجلة ، يوليو - 1973 ، فكان أول ما نشر عن التجربة المفردة لدعد حداد . - بندر عبد الحميد .

أتخيل غرفتك وعينيك متسمرتين في شقوق الباب ، صوتك يشتم العالم ويتسلق شجرة ، الظهيرة وذباب الموت ، يأخذك الشعر معه ، الخارج الآخر الذي تحلمين به ، تضحكين بين الأزقة وتسألين المارة عن دمشق ، لو كنت معاً الآن ، دعد أخبريني هل من شيء آخر ستضيفيه إلى قصائدك ؟ لقد كتبت كل شيء ، من يقرأ قصيدة لك اليوم ، سيسأل عن عنوانك كي يزورك وفي يديه باقة من شقائق النعمان ، إنك تسمعينني .... هذه حقيقة .
تعرفين أكثر من الوقت عن الدوران ، أكثر من الحجر عن السقوط ، أكثر من الحب عن الحضن ، أكثر من المحطة عن الوداع ، لكن لماذا رحلت هكذا مبكراً ؟؟ - سوزان علي .
