"عاشت ثورة 14 تموز، عاش الزعيم عبد الكريم قاسم، حشد من سكان الأطراف والعرب الجوّالة، وحمل اثنان في مؤخرة المسيرة لافتة كتب عليها "أهالي التنومه يعلنون ولاءهم للزعيم"، وكانت الحناجر تردد (ماكو زعيم إلا كريم). اخترقت التظاهرة الشارع الرئيسي متجاوزة البريد، وعندما أصبحت أمام دكان الحدادة، كان تامر يطلّ بابتسامة دونما استغراب، تلك اللحظة اندفع بعض الشباب من بستان النخيل، بمحاذاة الرصيف الأيمن ودخلوا التظاهرة مرددين شعاراً جديداً "الحزب الشيوعي بالحكم مطلب عظيم". اختلطت الاصوات وتضاربت الهتافات. وكاد هتاف الداخلين الجدد يتغلب على الشعار المتفق عليه ليلة أمس. التفت الحاج خلفه، وصاح بصوت عال: (اضربوا كل من هتف غير هتافنا) سُمعت من مؤخرة الحشد، والوسط لكمات، سقط شاب، وصرخت امرأة وهرول من مركز الناحية القريب شرطيان يفرقان المشتبكين".
واقع مرير، يدونه "قصي الشيخ عكر" في هذه الرواية السياسية التي تأخذ القارئ إلى عالم الواقع الانتخابي، بكافة تفاصيله، لتصور حياة سكان إحدى الضيع ومعالجتهم لأمور الانتخابات في ضيعتهم، وتبين حقائق هامة من الشارع السياسي داخل المنطقة.
