الخوارسقف يوسف الحايك (1964-1885) هو قيصر ملحم الحايك. رجل دين ماروني. ولد في بيت شباب و تلقى دروسه الأولى فيها. زخرت حياته بنشاط روحي و انساني و ادبي واسع. فالى جانب مواعظه في الدين و شوؤن الحياة عموما، ترك ثروة كبيرة في التأليف للمسرح اللبناني.
وحرصاً على ما تبقى من هذا الأرث يعمد الناشر إلى نشر بعض منها حفاظاً له من الاندثار، مرفوقاً بدراسة مختصرة. وذلك من أجل أن يكون باستطاعة من يرغب الاطلاع عليها والتعرف على نماذج من أدب وفكر هذا الرجل وجهوده في رفد الحركة المسرحية اللبنانية بمجموعة كبيرة من مؤلفاته التي لم يكتب أحد للمسرح في لبنان وربما في العالم هذا الكم من المؤلفات المسرحية.
تدور مسرحيات الحايك بشكل عام حول الايمان و ضرورة تقويته في النفوس و حوال الاخلاقيات و محاربة الفساد و الرذيلة و الدعوة الى التحلي بالشرف و الوفاء للوطن و للأهل. كما يعطي دورا مهما للمرأة في مسرحه و يجعلها بطلته الأولى.
