في هذا الكتاب يقدم الدكتور أمين الدين أبي بكر شرحه لكتاب "مختصر الأخضري في العبادات" في ضوء الكتاب والسُّنة، ولم يكتف على إيراد الآيات والأحاديث في شرح الكتاب فقط، بل تناول ألفاظ أبواب الكتاب وفصوله بالشرح أيضاً.
تأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب من كونه يوضح ما على المكلف من أمور العبادات، مع عمل المؤلف مقارنة بين مختصر الأخضري في العبادات و"كتاب النصيحة" بتقريب ما يجب على كل مكلف "للشيخ عبد الله بن فودي" وذلك لإبراز تأثير الأخضري على علماء آخرون.
كما يأتي في الكتاب كلام المؤلف عن "البسملة" و"الحمد لله"، "والصلاة على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم"، وذكر الفرق بين النبي والرسول، والكلام عن أركان الإيمان، ثم الحديث عن الإيمان بوجود الله تعالى عقلاً ونقلاً، وعرض أقسام التوحيد الثلاثة، وأهم نواقض الإيمان، وعلامات الإيمان وبيان فروض الأعيان، والكلام عن المحافظة على حدود الله (تطبيق الشريعة الإسلامية)، ثم بيان التوبة وأهميتها وشروطها... إلى غير ذلك من المسائل التي عمل على تحليلها المؤلف، بعد أن قدم لحياة الأخضري ونشأته ومكانته بين علماء عصره وأهم مؤلفاته وأماكن وجودها، في مصر والجزائر والمغرب وسواها، وأثر مختصره على علماء نيجيريا وغرب أفريقيا وما ينسب إليه من كرامات، ونظرة عامة على دعوته السلفية وقضايا عصره.
