حاول ملاحقة كل طب عرفه البشر بكل مكان، وكل دواء، رحلته الطويلة لم تكن مع المرض فحسب ولكنها كانت أيضاً مع كبار اطباء الدنيا من الشامان إلى آخر طبيب تخرج أمس، ثم أنها ليست رحلة مع هذه الأسماء اللاتينية المعقدة التي نعرفها اليوم للأدوية والعقار، ولكنها رحلة مع التعاويذ والشياطين والسحر ومع المر والمسك والزنجبيل وجوز الطيب والفلفل والتوت وزهر النيلوفر والزعفران والسمّاق والكافور والبلسم والبابونج وكل ما أنبتت الأرض.
كأننا معه في قافلة من قوافل القرون الوسطى يسبقها البهار والقرفة والقرنقل وحَبُّ الهال، قبل الوصول!...
