هناك عدة نظريات تبحث عن بداية الكون تندرج تحت اسم "الانفجار الكبير" وتلقي قبولاً عاماً في جميع الأوساط الفلكية تقريباً التي بدأت بالاهتمام بهذه النظريات منذ بداية هذا العصر.وهذا الكتاب الذي بين أيديكم يعرض بشكل مختصر الخطوط الرئيسة لهذه النظريات وتطورها تاريخياً مع استعراض أدلتها أيضاً.
إن أساس هذه النظريات هو: "أن الكون له بداية معينة". ولا ندري أية تفاصيل ستتغير منها بمرور الزمن، ولكن جوهر النظرية من أن هذا الكون مخلوق أصبح واضحاً وجلياً وبأدلة علمية لا يمكن نقضها. ولمعرفة مدى قطعية هذا الأساس وقوته العلمية نقول بأن مسألة الخلق أصبح مسلماً بها حتى في روسيا وعند أكثر العلماء إيغالاً في الإلحاد، ويقتصر ادعاؤهم الآن أن هذا الخلق تم عن طريق "الصدفة"!!
إن خاصية هذا الكتاب هو أنه يقف طويلاً ويسلط الأضواء على معنى الحوادث قدر وقوفه على ماهيتها. ولا شك أن البحث عن المعنى في موضوع كلي وشامل، مثل موضوع خلق الكون يكتسب أهمية خاصة.
إذ حاول العلم ومنذ عصور عدة أن يفهم: كيف خلق الكون؟ وهذه مسألة مهمة، ولكن الأهم من ذلك أن نفهم: لماذا خلق الكون؟ فإن لم نصل إلى جواب السؤال الثاني، فإن الجواب على السؤال الأول سوف لن يكون مفيداً إلا في نطاق ضيق جداً، وهو نطاق إشباع فضول معين، وقد لا يستحق كل هذا الجهد والمبالغ المبذولة للحصول عليه.
هذا الكتاب لا يقدم لنا قصة ميلاد فرد أو أمة أو حضارة أو مجموعة من المجموعات الشمسية أو مجرة من المجرات، بل يقدم لنا قصة ميلاد الكون، وقصة ميلاد الوجود المنظور بأجمعه، لذا فهي لا تشبه أي شيء آخر لأنها كل شيء.
